Title: Wiring up an arcade power supply with PC Power cord
Post by: markronz on November 05, 2013, 07:44:00 pm
Hello, I am just trying to wire up an arcade machine power supply.   I am trying to wire up the power cord to it and I've got some questions.

For the power cord, I chopped off the end of a power plug for a PC.   Inside of the PC power supply cord there are, naturally, three wires.    I just need some help figuring out what wire I need to connect to what screw on the power supply.   The color of the wires is Blue, Red, and Yellow with a green strip.

The three screws on the power supply are FG, which I know is the ground, AC1 and AC2.

Can someone help me out and tell me which wire goes where?  The colors of the wires don't mean much to me.

Thanks in advance for the help!

AFAIK...

Yellow-Green is ground, Red is hot and Blue is neutral.

Thanks for the info.   The ground I will hook up to the FG screw on my power supply.  Do you happen to know what gets attached to AC1 and AC2?   Is Red (hot) the AC1?  Or the blue?  Any idea?

Since it is AC it doesn't really matter (but, I would have put the red one to AC1 and the blue to AC2).
When it is DC (output from the PSU) polarity does matter.

Great.  Thank you very much!  That's all I needed to know!
