I discovered this well-loved multicade machine in my neighborhood bar. If you look closely, you'll notice that someone has made off with the ball top from the joystick. I'd like to replace it, but I know nothing about this stuff. Can any of you tell me exactly what to buy, and where to buy it? I don't mind replacing the entire joystick, but preferably I'd just be able to screw on a new ball top. Any ideas? Thanks much!

Looks like a generic conversion. Just buy a new joystick.

Well, yes, but that doesn't actually provide any new information. What I'm looking for is for someone to remove all guesswork for me and simply post a link to a page where I can order the part.

Not that easy. Need to know if it's a joystick that uses American or Japanese mounting pattern. Would need to see the underside of the control panel.

Sounds like we're getting somewhere. Remember that I only really need to screw on a new ball top. Do the Japanese and American configurations share the same threading? But just for the sake of simplifying things, let's roll the dice and assume it's of American manufacture. Where do I go from there?

It probably needs a 6mm thread balltop.
Many vendors carry that (standard) size balltop.

Beautiful, thanks, Matt. I found one on Amazon easy enough. Thanks again!

American balltops don't screw off in the first place.
Superglue it back on or it will be gone again in a week.
