Title: Desk help please
Post by: Hoopz on November 01, 2013, 03:52:16 pm
My search fu is failing me right now.  I'm looking for a laminate type of corner desk but am not sure what they are called.  I have not looked locally but searched online without luck.

We want to get our 5 year old girls a corner style desk for crafts, drawing, etc for Christmas.   We don't want something with drawers though.  I have one at the house that essentially looks like a fairly cheap laminate over particle board.  Would I want to talk to someone at Lowes/Home Depot about getting a counter or are these common enough that I can find it boxed somewhere?  Maybe I've seen them and just haven't paid attention.

I can post pics later if that's help.

TIA

No but thanks for asking.  I want a counter top that would essentially mount with wall brackets like this:

How about an off-cut of a breakfast bar/worktop cut to size and shape, edges trimmed with appropriate edging. Sorry, not sure of all the correct British terms let alone American ones   :-[

A joiner should be able to knock one off and mount it in no time  ;)

Depending on what size you wanted Lowes and Home depot usually have these type of 4 ft. sections in stock for around $40-$50>

I believe it is a "Floating Corner Desk".  I can't find any prebuilt options though there are a lot of DIY links out there.

You guys rock.  I don't want to the route of building but prefer the buy it, mount it and be done route.  I will stop by Lowes and see what they have.

Having a name certainly helps too.

Thanks!!!!!
