Does anyone know how to, or has anyone ever converted a Playstation Time Crisis Gun for use with a PC in a Mame Cab ??
I have one like the one below that a nearly threw out the other day , but then the light bulb came on and i thought hang about i wonder if this can be converted to Mame instead of having to buy one of the Aim Trak Guns , So thought id ask if anyone has had an experience doing this ..

Quick question:
Does that have the recoil like the arcade games, and was that used for the PS1 or 2? If there is a feasible way I'd be interested in picking some up too.

The one in question is for the PS2 and does have the recoil system , however there are a few diffrent version out there ... i.e some work with ps 1 & 2 so they have the old ps1 connection and a usb connection on the end of the cable ...

Also same question for the Time crisis 4 gun on PS3 ???

As far as I know there is no way to get the Ps1 Lightgun to work with a PC. Those need a CRT to work, too. I heard of people using Guncons 2 on a pc with some success. The most versatile and easy way is to go with a Aimtrack Module and hack it into a gun. This way you can also hack REAL arcade Namco lightguns and make use of the recoil with some hacking.

Guncon = CRT. LCD = IR transmitter and receiver. If going for latter, dunno if this will help:

I have the GunCon3 for TC4 and it has LED modules with it for use with any display type. ;)
I looked into this a while back since the GunCon3 is USB but had no luck finding anything regarding success on a PC.
I think there is software that allows the use of the PS2 GunCon.

Thanks for the reply DGP and everyone else who has replied ...
Its a shame there's no driver hack/software or something for the GunCon3 as the pc actually reconises the GunCon3 as a generic usb device when you plug it in , but with out any driver software its obviously useless .. Shame

If im correct, there was a driver made for the top gun lightguns. Think it was smog or something like that. Or there was one for the ps1/ps2 guncon using a crt tv with a pc. If I had one of the USB ones to poke at, I'd snoop the USB traffic and see what it's doing. Writing a driver for a USB device doesn't appear to be terribly difficult, and if it presents as a HID device, all it needs is an INF file to identify it, all the HID device drivers are built into windows. Unfortunately, as I do not have access to one for testing, nor any particular reason to want one at this time, I can't help you guys.
