Title: CRT usb lightgun options?
Post by: bimm25e on October 24, 2013, 03:49:47 am
Is this a thing?  I would expect its something rarely manufactured if at all anymore.  Anyone have a lead on something like this?

You can use lcd lightguns on crt screens as well. So the aim trak from ultimarc would be an option.

I have an EMS Topgun 3 and I have to say Im fairly disappointed with its performance....  I would much prefer something that works off of the active pixel.

ACT labs used to make VGA and S-video versions.  They turn up used every once in a while.  You may have to wait a year before a pair turn up though.
Stay away from the old ones that use a gameport connection.  They work differently than the USB ones.

I have the older raygun style S-video USB model and love them.
They work the way I remember light guns working, not like a wii controller where you have to rely on onscreen crosshairs.

Yeah I agree the "sensor" based options never seem to perform as well as the old school lightgun setups, maybe im just a lightgun snob but the difference is too noticeable for me to really get into the game with the EMS Topgun

I'm the same way.  If I can't use the sights on the gun to aim and have them be accurate, then I might as well be using an air mouse.
