Yup I took on a 3rd project, I got this cab on ebay for $27.00 bucks. Its gutted but has some wires I can use in the future (well worth the $27 if you ask me) the cab is also in dam good condition.
Wont start this till im done with my ULTRAMAN build and Pac Man restore.
Im thinking about throwing a small LCD on top and wiring it for cable....any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Throw a monitor in the top, new control panel and make a Playchoice 10 cab :-\

Playchoice 10 is not enough for me, I need MOREEEEE haha.

well lets just say u built a mame in it ..?
rather dam good idea :)
now with that aside
u could part out that coin door for 50.00,the card-reader for 100.00,the machine lock for 35-50.00,if u have the key
so for 27.00 u can if u want make 200.00-27.00=173.00,with olny min work..
if the monitor works tack on 125.00 more
bing bang boom

Sorry that was the ebay photo, when I picked it up it was gutted (which I knew it was gonna be). But there is a good amount of switches, connectors, and harnessess left inside.

I got the bezel but no glass.
When building a control panel, should it not extend out past a certain amount of inches past the cabinet?? Like 3 or 4 inches on either side or it doesnt matter?

ok so u will be dropping a lcd..no bones lost there
search our fourms for ppl whom have walked around both of these problems
now on to the contorl panel
this is totaly up to what u want >2player< >4player<
the choice is totaly yours
think of this cab as a blank piece of paper..u draw out of it what u want..

DEFINITELY putting an LCD and wiring for cable, playing games and watching sports....cant beat that ha.
Yeah ill see if anyone else has tried that here on the forums, as for the cp I want a 4 player set up.
I will check out the CP gallery on the other page, has anyone done anything crazy with lighting? I saw some cool light set ups in the juke box section.

Hammer, you ever finish a conversion with this cab? I have one too and am looking to begin a project with it. Mame, Retroarch, etc. Don't see many dedicated GT cabs with second monitor converted. I'm thinking of using the 15" for a dynamic marquee except for Punch-Out and PC-10s which would obviously be used as true 2nd monitor.

To either one of you - I will buy the speaker grills off you. I have converted two of these and I need the grills. If your plan is to use different grills, I'll take the old ones off your hands.

I'm not sure yet what I'll be doing but will certainly let you know if I end up not using them.

If you haven't already Take a Look at what Token did with Moonshot, using a similar cab.

Not that you have to go the way of a portrait mounted LED, but can't hurt to get some creative ideas.

Thanks for the redirect harveybirdman! I just joined yesterday and have spent hours going through Maximus' build as well as others, but hadn't gotten to Token's yet. Just did a quick scan and yes I'm certainly thinking portrait-mounted LED. Also thinking of dropping in a 25" 21:9 monitor for a dynamic marquee.
I've started and will prob finish my initial post of the project this afternoon. Gotta act like a responsible parent and go feed the baby now!
Thanks again!

I'll send you a security screw bit for the speaker grills. :)

At a minimum, if you haven't started working on the cab. You'll want to get a T25 security bit.
