Title: Beast Busters 2 Cabinet Project
Post by: Khemist49 on October 16, 2013, 04:52:00 pm
Hi Everyone,

I'm still fairly new to the whole Cabinet world. I purchased a Ninja Gaiden (non-working) Cabinet last year and created a 4-player cab.
Very simple design, had a 19-inch 4:3 dell LCD which fit perfectly, used a cheap laptop which runs all my games just fine, got my hyperspin front-end working, all 4 player controls 100% functional, plenty of space and decent viewing angle for all 4 players. Mostly played NBA JAM, and some TMNT.

I've attached a picture which by most standards the build was not much to be proud of BUT was my first and only encouraged me to build something much better.

I recently purchased a Beast Busters 2 Cabinet off ebay for $50. Good condition over-all.

This time i am adding a 27-inch LCD screen, since the Cab is larger/wider and screen will be placed deeper into the cabinet than my previous build.
I have a much better desktop computer now, better specs etc.

My only debate at this time is the 4 player option, it's lots of fun, i have the space, i have the joysticks and buttons, the screen size will be better for viewing.

But, i rarely play 4-player games...

Anyway here are two pics, one of my first build, and one of the new cab i just purchased which i will of course make much more polished and clean.

Any tips/ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

That's a tough one...personally  I'm with you on not needing all 4 players, but your new project cab is pretty large, so I'm not sure how it will look with only 2 players...unless you add a lot of space for a trackball. Either way, looks like you have a pretty good cab to work from for your new one. Best of luck!

Beast Buster cab looks like a great setup for some dual  Aim Track  (http://www.ultimarc.com/aimtrak.html) Action!!

I just went through the process on deciding whether to cut down from 4 player to 2 player. In the end I decided it was so rare that I played 4 player that I'd rather have a smaller footprint cabinet that looked better.

I put together a 4-player panel with some spare MDF i had, doesn't look too bad as far as width goes. It's 49" wide. Can still switch back to 2 player but we'll see...

Maybe you can make a 2 player CP, and hide some USB ports somewhere for controllers for the rare cases you play 4 player games?  That or maybe some wireless controllers?

Been really busy at home, but got a chance to work on this some time recently. This is what it will look like once mounted.

Obviously needs polishing, art, and probably adding some buttons.
