Hi everyone !:)
soo nice to see this forum i looked everywhere for a good forum glad to finally find one !:)
ok so i took it to myself to build a full MAME cabinet (and a bit complicated one)
and i am in the control panel research stage off-cures :banghead:
so to business !
i have a cupple of questions.
my control panel desin is:
* the standart 7 buttons for each player +
* trackball with 2 buttons +
* a spinner (that will use the trackball buttons) +
* 4 swiches that will hold functions in the mame cabinet
i have a couple of queastions about all the wiring needed to be done in my project ???
1.
my buttons i'm about to buy are lighted LED buttons >

the question is, i understood i just connect 2 wires from them to an ipac-2 board and form there to the pc. the main thing is they have LED lightning on them, how do i connect thoughs ?
i understood i need a power source but what power source do i need ? is there a cable ? i daisy chain it to all the led ? or a board i connect to the electricity and from there i have a bunch of
connections to the LED on the buttons..? it would be great if you could show me what power source you use on a project like this ... there all 12 V and the switches also have LED on them.
2.
eventually i'm going to have 4 switches to hold all kind of functions , (1 for the lightning, 1 for the speakers, 1 for the led lights on the buttons, 1 for turning the pc on\off)
on 3 of the switches i kinda understand, i mean i just need to cut one of the lines from the ..let's say light to the power source and put the switch in the middle right ? does it matter on which line ?
these are the switches for the light, and speakers:

and then there is the switch of switches.. the one to turn on the pc and off the pc..
this is the switch in question for the pc:

how on earth do i wire something like that ?
i mean i know that on each mother board there is a circuit that if closed the pc will turn on , but there are 4 connectors on the switch (i'm guessing 2 for the led's and 2 for the switch) how do i connect them all that the led will turn on when the computer is turning on also how do i connect it to the connectors on the mother board in a way that it will turn it on ?
lastly, i understood turning off the computer through this switch is bad for the computer, need to shutdown normally, does that mean the switch will be on ON state even when the computer is off ?
or the switch i showed here is not on\off .. ?
just have allot of problems with this switch... glad if someone could answer...
3.
then i have my main problem... i want that when i turn on the light switch for my LED buttons, they will be turned on with a nice animation (instead of just .. turning on all at once)
and maybe when there idle for a while to do an animation as well...
how much is this possible ? and how on earth do i do that ?
thanks for everyone for the answers and for reading :)

Regarding the LED buttons, if you want animations and what-not, you'll need an LED controller (like a PACLED64, LED-Wiz, etc).
For powering them, controllers can usually supply a certain amount of current, but you can also use any DC power source. Many people use computer power supplies for this purpose.
-
The two LED power lugs point down like stirrups on a saddle.
The three switch terminals are Normally Closed (NC), Normally Open(NO), and Common. (COM)
Daisy-chained grounds are usually attached to COM and the wire to the encoder input connects to NO.
Protip: Broad multi-part questions will often cause people to tl;dr.
Another topic to search on is "admin buttons".
That should get you started for being able to search out the desired subject matter.

thanks !!:)
if i will use a LED controller will i still need another power supply ? i red it only gives 6 V while the LED need 12V ...
and about the PC power supply to power my leds, how to i connect the pc cables to the led ? i mean, i need a connector or something no ? wouldn't it fry them ?
