I have noticed if I boot up my mame cabinet, play street fighter for a bit, then switch it up to golden tee. The surface part of the trackball that has been sitting on the RGB Led, is super hot and the trackball now catches on the corners of the housing. Is this a bad trackball? Or is this normal? It's a HAPPS 3" RGB Trackball from twistedquarters.

Sounds like you are driving the LED's too hard. Try reducing the voltage or increasing the resistance.

Well, I havent taken it apart yet. From what I can tell it definitely has some LEDS on a circuit board, so I assume it has its own driver as well. It is just straight 12v, that I have tied into a molex and plugged into the 12v molex of my PC. Multi-meter shows 11.93v on the line. Not really sure if dropping the voltage would work in this setup?

The 12v LEDs should run fine on 5v.
I run 12v LED buttons on 5v for the lower current draw.
