I got my oem remote for my jvc av-32cf36 and started playing with getting a nice square pic in the service menu. my whole point is to just use the tv in a showcase cab. and only for mame games of the 80s 90s. im close but it still a lil off I was wondering if anyone had any tips on what I could use to help speed the process along. I was using umk3 monitor test patterns to help with it but if anyone knows a game with a better pattern or a pc program with good patterns id be most grateful. thought I had posted this last night but I was so sleepy I might of forgot and just shut down the pc.

thanks this should help lots. I found street fighter 3rd strike had a nice cross hatch pattern works really good too. tho I noticed diff games have diff amount of black space around them. like street fight has a cm or two. where killer instinct has 10-20

More recent versions of MAME will allow you to adjust that border on a game by game basis, hit TAB while in the game and look at the slider options.

Thanks guys its looking a lot better still not as great as it could be. still need a power strip compatible video card and a transcoder, just using svideo at the moment. was using component but the colors started to go wonky during tests so went down to s video. plus it easier to get 640x480 with svideo on this tv than I can with component NVidia keeps defaulting it to a hdtv tho it is not.

I wouldn't use Soft15kHz/Powerstrip anymore. CRT_Emudriver is the way to go:

I use an ATI HD4350, which can be found on eBay for around $20.

so did you write a new guide on using emu_driver and an ati card? do you still use the transcoder in the loop I think I read on one of your other post recently that you was still using it.
-
Yup, transcoder is still used. Check the latest post in the Newbie TV thread, second link in my signature, for an update on transcoder choices. The switch to CRT_Emudriver is addressed there too, it doesn't change much in terms of what was discussed there.
