EDIT: now on kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1470493497/next-car-game-a-motorsport-with-attitude (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1470493497/next-car-game-a-motorsport-with-attitude)
I haven't read all the details yet. Looks to be based on Flatout with a new engine.
They are trying to sell enough presale units to publish the game themselves.

Behind the scenes of "Next Car Game": Car damage fun! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmQbUJiEax8#)
We wanted to do a Kickstarter! But it turned out to be tricky for non-US-citizens, and Finnish law prohibits raising money for commercial purposes. We still wanted to show everything we’ve got right now, so we chose to set up our own pre-order site immediately!
If you’re thinking of holding off purchasing until the possible, speculative Kickstarter – please don’t! We’re sure we’ll make it worth to you to jump onboard immediately.
We’re making the game for the PC first, including all those neat PC features such as wheel support.

I saw that awhile back. Didn't click that its the same guys that did the Flatout series.
"The Publishers tell us there is no Market for this game" - so they crowdfund... instead of looking at things like Steam Greenlight? Because the game looks like its done....?
Hmm. That's the problem with working in quality control / fraud detection for a few years.... You end up suspecting EVERYTHING. ;D (thankfully I don't work in that industry anymore)

Game will be released even if the kickstarter falls short.
I had already pre-ordered the game on their site. I don't think they were progressing very fast on meeting their goals without kickstarter.
They are asking for a lot, but this is an established studio, not an independent.
Guess we'll see.

This looks cool. Destruction derby was a favorite game of mine on playstation.

I liked Demolition Derby. This looks pretty cool. I don't usually go for racing games, but...

This is what I like to see....developers using a wheel for control throughout the process. :)
EDIT: Playing in their socks nonetheless for better pedal feel. :lol

Me too. I loved both games but I thought the first one was more fun.
-
Game looks good.
I think they asked too much for the kickstarter though... I doubt it will fund. But the game looks like its more-or-less done already - so... why the kickstarter?

The people that pre-ordered now have access to "a playable technology sneak-peak"
Looks like it's basically a white environment that you can beat around in and see how the damage works.
Says it includes 24 cars, so I guess the car models are far along.
Not sure when I'll get time to test it out. Maybe not until next week.

The kickstarter page now says:
Funding Canceled
Funding for this project was canceled by the project creator about 6 hours ago.
First of all, big thanks to all our backers. Although our Kickstarter campaign has attracted tremendous enthusiasm, during the last couple of weeks it’s become obvious that we are not going to meet our goal. Because of this we have decided concentrate on our efforts on the pre-order campaign.
We Finns are not used to giving up so easily, and we are hell-bent to keep on developing the game with our supporters, shaping it into something that no racing game fan can afford to pass. We have this thing called sisu in Finnish, meaning strength of will, and we’re counting on that each of you have a bit of sisu in you!
As a thank-you to our faithful fans, we have decided to release a PLAYABLE technology sneak peek, and it’s available RIGHT NOW to all our pre-order supporters. The sneak peek features a playground that we use internally to test various features various like car damage and environment destruction. The best thing about it is that you will get a chance to have fun and wreak havoc with an amazing 24 cars!
In the full game the action will take place on many locations, including a number of race tracks and derby arenas. We're also going to improve the gameplay and technology on many fronts such as car damage and handling, and our Early Access customers will get a chance to experience these improvements first-hand during the Early Access phase!
We really hope that most of you want to continue supporting us and Next Car Game through our website. To make the game happen, we need your support more than ever.
Support us now and get access to play sneak peek right away! Join the team: WWW.NEXTCARGAME.COM (http://WWW.NEXTCARGAME.COM)
They were only at $82k, asking for $350k and had through Dec 1st to go.
Odd that they cancel it rather than just let it fail or lower their goal. :dunno

This is now available on steam as an early access game. It's still in development so it only comes with 2 cars and 2 tracks plus a demo derby stadium.

I backed the game on bugbear's website back at the very beginning.
I'm not sure how much is actually there, as I haven't tested it out since it moved to Steam.
The last early access thing I tested out was one Arena and one or two cars. No objectives, no real gameplay, just smashing into other cars until your car didn't work anymore.
It only kept me entertained for one evening. I haven't bothered playing it since.
My advice is to wait until the game is actually done.

I have not messed with the game since the sandbox technology demo, but received this update via email this morning.
Wreckfest gets more punch under the hood, update coming soon!
Helsinki, Finland - June 11, 2015 - We're pleased to announce that the next update of Wreckfest is scheduled for this month, and it will mark an important milestone for our game. In the update we will be introducing our completely new tire and suspension simulation model that will provide for a much more immersive driving experience on both tarmac and sand. The update will also feature our next-generation DirectX 11 rendering engine that will make it possible to faithfully recreate realistic environments with advanced physically based materials and lighting (PBR).
Since we've been working hard with the physics and rendering features of the game this update will not contain much new content, but as a teaser of the great things to come the update will ship with the first iteration of the reworked Sandpit track to give you a glimpse of the level of quality and realism we're striving for with our next-generation environments. Not only that, but you will also get a chance to experience an early version of a new oval track that we have in production. Since the new tracks would be nothing without new toys to race around with, we'll be including two new carsas well. Both of them are still heavily in progress, mind you, but nonetheless you will get to take them for an early test drive. Needless to say, the update will also contain a huge number of other added features and improvements, many of which have been requested by you, our dear players and supporters.
As it is so often, when one journey ends another begins. The next update is a first, important step in realizing our dream for Wreckfest. Now with most of the heavy lifting done on the physics and rendering department of the game our development team will be working full-steam on new good stuff to come in the next months: a whole lot of new cars, new tracks, car customization, modding support as well as other features and content that in end will make Wreckfest THE definite game for anyone looking for rough, no-holds-barred racing experience.
A full changelist will be available with the update, but here are the most important changes:
•New simulator-grade physics engine with advanced tire and suspension geometry simulation.
•New DirectX 11 rendering engine with realistic physically based materials and lighting.
•64-bit operating system support for optimal performance on modern computer systems.
•Hardware MSAA anti-aliasing with advanced foliage transparency antialiasing.
•Dedicated server for optimized multiplayer performance with command-line and remote configuration features.
•Steam leaderboards and player statistics for tracking and comparing performance with other players.
•Support for changing the track and the car in lobby as well as adding bots to multiplayer events.
•New game modes Team Race and Elimination Race, guaranteed to provide explosive racing action for 2-4 teams.
•One new track and another one completely overhauled.
•Two new cars, an American and a European one.
As always, thank you for your enthusiasm, dedication and support. See you on the track!
Wreckfest is available on Steam and our website, wreckfestgame.com!
