Title: Broke my CRT TV tube :( - is it repairable ?
Post by: j69ant on October 05, 2013, 09:22:14 am
Gutted gutted gutted...

My cabs nearly finished and I was just making a few adjustments to the rear door... When I accidently hit the cathode ray tube part at the back of the TV. Its a 28" Panasonic 4:3 CRT.

It hissed like crazy and theres a nice crack across the glass.

I haven't bothered to try and test it, as im assuming its now dead :(

Ive rang around a few TV shops, but they are telling me that tube went obsolete 5 years ago.

Is this repairable ? Anybody know of CRT tv tube suppliers in the UK ?

Thanks

yeah its dead mate,
very difficult matching a replacement crt, there are very few suppliers of crt these days and you would need to match neck pinout type and heater current-even if you did this you would most likely need to do a deflection yoke swap and some are bonded
even if you did all the above then it would be possible you may get geometry and convergence issues that would never adjust out

imo your best way forwards is to find a 28" hantarex monitor, you can find polo 2 and polostar versions in silver strike bowling machines that can go for very little money on ebay or of course just another 28" crt tv
