Hi,
I've been looking this up all day, and am sure it is here somewhere, but I'm having a damned hard time finding where. So I got the GP-wiz40 max today and a spitfire qd quick-connect joystick from GGG and I cannot find out how to connect it. I placed 4 wires into the U1, D1, L1, And R1 ports, but don't know where to put the 5th wire? Also does it matter which color wire goes into which port on the encoder? I've been at this for hours and cannot get anything to read, I got the U1 to read on the computer calibration, but just once. I tried connecting two buttons to the encoder to test that as well and nothing :(

5th wire is ground -- probably the black wire. :dunno
If you're not sure about the order of the other wires, hook them up one at a time then press up, down, left, and then right on the joystick so you can figure out which direction is associated with that wire and connect it to the correct input.

Thanks for the reply first of all. Yeah I figured the brown cable is ground since it's closest to black, when i plug the brown cable into ground, I can move it right and diagonally down-right, but not down itself or any other direction. I don't get it, the wires are all cut to the same length and I'm pushing them in tightly. And I can't get any buttons to work at all either. Is there a good guide how to wire them to the encoder? Everywhere I look, it seems they skip that step.

Finally got the joystick mapped right. How do I connect the buttons correctly? I've looked all over and can't get any response.

They are a common ground. Meaning the ground wire gets daisy chained together.

Sorry, don't mean to sound ignorant, but I am confused how can I daisy chain the harness ground cable to the daisy chained .187 connectors I have? Also, the main buttons I have are the true-leaf style buttons so they don't have a ground connection, what do I do for those?

NP everybody had too start from somewhere :D
I am assuming that you got the wire set w/ the GP Wiz40. Take the ground wire from the Spit fire harness & twist the two ends together w/ the daisy chain ground wire, from wire set. That will go into the ground screw terminal of the GP Wiz40.
The Classx leaf switches does not matter which is positive or ground. Just keep all the buttons the same + & -. So keep all the top leafs tabs positive & bottom tabs negative of your buttons.
Then connect the pos to the according button on the GP Wiz 40.

Thanks dude! I'll give it a shot and let you know. You guys are great, answer quick without making me feel like an idiot, haha. Thanks again.

Thanks so much man! I got the joystick and buttons working. I have just one more question (for now). I now have the ground cable with the two wires twisted together, but I am going to need to do the same thing for player 2. And since the GP-Wiz40 only has one ground connector, does this mean I'll have to plug 4 cables into the one ground connection?
Thanks again.

Your welcome
Yes, the new GP Wiz40 interfaces only have 1 ground on them. I just used one in a BarStick from Haruman like 2weeks ago.
Since your are using the SpitFires w/ the harness, you should only have 3 wires into the ground. Two from player1 & player2 SpitFires. Then the daisy chain ground should be used for player 1 & player 2 buttons. You should have it as one continuous ground wire, daisy chained.

Ah, makes sense. Thanks, you're awesome!
