Hi Guys,
Quick question that I have been trying to get my heard around recently. I'm running the latest Linux Live CD distro on a horizontal arcade cabinet and overall the experience is fantastic. What I would like in terms of guidance is some good helpful advice on the various video and sound options that can be set.
What I have noticed is that I don't have any tearing on any games or scrolling issues but I do get what can only be described as a wonky record type of sound, almost as if the game is running slow although it reports it's running at 100%.
What would the more experienced guys on this forum suggest can be done to combat this if anything at all. I mean is this just a by product of stopping any tearing or is there something that I can set to make the sound more acceptable while keeping the benefits of all the visuals working in a correct manner. I'm hoping that I may have some misconfiguration somewhere that I can remedy when I get home.
Again appreciate any suggestions in advance and look forward to hearing different opinions on this matter.
Thanks
Strontium

Hi strontium,
If GroovyMAME is actually running at a solid 100% speed, the sound should be perfect. So, either it is not running at 100% all the time, or there's something odd going on. Note that for some reason, in MAME for Linux there's a huge speed drop when you bring the user interface menu out. So it's normal to experience sound issues for a moment while entering the menu.
