Title: cpo overlay over textured paint on trackball mount plate
Post by: TopJimmyCooks on October 02, 2013, 11:12:44 pm
I have a trackball mounting plate with the heavily textured factory paint finish.  I am putting a cpo from gameongrafix over it.  will the overlay go smoothly over the painted surface or should I sand that paint smooth?  the top of the plate is exactly flush with the top of the wood cp surface.

Sand it.
+1.

Almost any underlying texture will probably show through the vinyl.

Sand it.

Sand it, skim coat the whole panel with bondo and then sand it again.

Thanks guys, I sanded the texture off last night.  I'm also using tee nuts to hold the undermounted sticks and I bondo'd over those as well.
