Title: Mamewah Newbie guide - Updated to latest version
Post by: stuzza on November 19, 2003, 05:15:48 am
I decided to finally update Mamewah on my home computer and so thought why not update the newbie guide at the same time  ;)

I've added a few more screenshots and step by step info on how to get Mamewah running for the first time.  If you are a complete newb, you should hopefully find this helpful.

Mamewah v0.962 Newbie setup guide is located here (http://members.lycos.co.uk/stuzza12/index.htm).

I haven't updated the "Changing Layouts/Resolution" section yet, but I'll try and do that this week.

I hope this helps some people.

UPDATE:  Site has now finally been revamped!  Please update your links: http://members.lycos.co.uk/stuzza12/index.htm

I can thoroughly recommend this guide. Having only used MAME32 up until now I am a relative novice to Mamewah and the way it integrates with MAME. I couldn't have asked for a better resource of info.

Thanks again for an excellent job Stuzza.

Tony  :)

Awesome thank! I was thinking about writing an updated tutorial but have nowhere to host it at the moment.

Yeah, great work - thanks Stuzza :)

One thing I'd like to mention is that if anyone has trouble with crashing etc. after setting up emulators/settings manually (by editing CFG files), then try doing it within MAMEWAH itself instead.  MW does some checks when you set things that would not be checked if you edited the CFG files...

I would add a section on how to setup PC games (emulator type of "PC"), although in my opinion, once you find the right spot in the readme file, it's fairly easy to understand.

Stuzza,

Thanks a million for your great guide.  You might add a short paragraph for upgraders with reminders about deleting old CFGs (stumped me for a long time - MW simply drops back to the desktop until you delete the old CFG)

BTW - thanks for the skin site, too!

Thanks.  Good idea.  I'm in the process of updating the help pages so I'll try and add some extra useful pointers  ;)
