Title: Measure twice cut once -not!
Post by: Richardgregory on September 29, 2013, 10:04:40 pm
So I had thought I measured a billion times accurate all my buttons that I need to make holes for.  So I made 15 today and realized that the spinner hole is 7mm off center!!!

My lesson:  measure, measure, measure....and layout on cardboard before drilling into actual wood piece. So a wasted hour and a piece of wood.

I feel like an idiot!

If you plan to have artwork done, don't bother making a new one until you have the artwork as a template.
Most places will print you off a black and white paper version for a little extra.

Of course, if you're not having artwork printed or have artwork that has no markings or outlines in relation to the buttons, then carry on.

7mm sounds quite minor error.. Don't waste otherwise good control panel, just put some plastic washer or some sheet of Metal to hide extra hole. It may look even more pro this way..?!

or you could fill it with putty or bondo and redrill.
