Title: 138 in 1 jamma help - games dont load
Post by: mike boss on September 29, 2013, 12:01:57 pm
I know this might not be the best thread for this, perhaps it is suited for Arcade Miscellaneous....however I thought I'd try.

I picked up a USED 138 in 1 Jamma Board, it's the one from here : <URL removed by HaRuMaN>
I say this based on the sticker in the image, which my board has also.

I know the guy I bought it from was told from the seller it was from here : <URL removed by HaRuMaN>

Anyway I installed this yesterday and every game I bought it for didn't load.
Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros, Rygar, Ghosts n' Goblins

Any ideas or help ? Am I S.O.L ?

Tested this board out in full on my one cabinet, only 28 of the games actually load.

Don't post links to sales of XXX in 1 boards.

My bad, was not by any means trying to promote the sale of the boards (if I were.....bad promotion dont you think?). I just wanted to indicate the differences.

So today I take this board outside to my Final Fight jamma cabinet.
Plug it in and hook up the LCD monitor.
The board works !
Tested a few of the games that did not load downstairs and they load.
I adjusted the volume and all was good.

The LCD I'm using takes a few seconds to click in so I wasn't able to activate the the service menu.
*(so you need to coin up to select game.......... which I hate)

But the good news is the board works.

Why it doesnt work in my jamma cabinet downstairs I dont know, but it works here.
I tested the voltage and adjusted the voltage of my Popeye but the issue remained.

I think I'll pull my WWF Wrestlefest out of my Popeye, as well as the 6-1 jamma switcher and put them in my Final Fight.

Rewire the Popeye and add this board.

Why would I have this issue ?

I would check the connector in the faulty cabinet and verify that all power and ground pins are actually connected. Some multi game boards are very picky about having ground on all pins, not just pin 1 and 2…

Is the power at the right voltage/amp for the board? Some boards are designed for a particular voltage or ampage.

I checked the +5, -5-, and +12 on both the cabinet where the board works as well as the faulty cabinet.
I did not however check on the other end, meaning where the board is connected.
So it could be that the power is not making it to the board (the correct power).

I think cost wise is just makes sense to replace the harness.
I'll also swap out the CRT with an LCD.

I'll take the existing WWF Superstars and 6-in-1 jamma switcher and use them in my Final Fight.

I think that option makes the most sense and gives me some good life/purpose for each cabinet.

The non working cabinet is a Nintendo Popeye, I wish Popeye were on the board...but Mario Bros is ! and that is just super cool ! And fits the theme !
