Title: AMI Rowe jukebox issues
Post by: bwill74 on September 28, 2013, 04:24:29 pm
Came across a 1968 AMI Rowe jukebox awhile back. When i bought it, it was working fine. Begin to have some issues. First the selectors for the songs wasnt staying engaged....but you could use the scan under the lid to play a 45. Had to move it, now all it does is power up (lights etc.) and not much else.  Healthy or not on it, you can move the gears through their motion under the turntable and make the record come down on the platter, which in turn engages the motor and amp to play the record. When its done, you can do the same thing and goes in reverse order. New at this so can somebody help me?????

Hello Bwill74,

Welcome to the forum.

What country do you reside in?

We need more information from you before we can help you.

Do you have a manual? if so please read it so you are conversant with the terms used.

When you switch it on does the mechanism/carousel scan abou a revolution and a third?

Can you establish credit?

Once you have credit will the keybroad letters and numbers lock? and then release once the search unit has puched out the selection pin?

If the buttons remain locked has the search unit wipers not spun around?

These are just a few steps that need clarification.

Regards
Alan

Yes, i have a manual which i have looked through. This jukebox worked when i got it. Just seems to keep getting worse. When you plug it in all it does is light up, projector turns showing stills, and not much else. You can put money in it or credit it up and credit wheel reacts. Selectors wont lock in and search wheel doesnt move. Also using the toggle switch to move the carousel doesnt work anymore either; but like i said manually moving the gears will make the platter start turning, select a 45, put it on the platter, and activate the amp (play the record). All fuses are good.

The fuses in the power supply may be good but you need to check those power rails on the power supply. You are looking for 30 volts DC and 30 volts AC.

I would also bump this topic over to www.phonoland.com (http://www.phonoland.com) I am a moderator on there but there is also a few other people who do deal and work with Rowe Ami jukeboxes in the USA. If you do join please give your location in the USA it helps to direct where to go for help.

Hi

I have an AMI Rowe Model R91 $%/CD Combo jukebox here in New Zealand. It is in lovely condition and lights up beautifully. The problem I have is on about 50% of the selections the record is selected and arm comes into contact for about 5 to 6 seconds and then returns without playing the whole 45, any idea what could be causing this??

Regards
David
