Title: Are Galaxian and Galaga the same cabinet?
Post by: DaOld Man on September 27, 2013, 08:30:16 pm: I have been offered a Galaxian cabinet for free. Something is wrong with it, and the artwork is in bad shape. I don't really like Galaxian but was wondering if it is the same cabinet as Galaga? I would love to have a dedicated Galaga cabinet.
The two cabs looks very similar, from what I can tell by net pics.

Galaga cabinets are the same shape as ms pacman.

Edit: I did a search and found a couple of galaxians converted into galaga...just in case you wanted to see what it might look like.

^This -- Galaga\Ms. Pac are more rounded on the front edge !

Post by: orion on October 01, 2013, 12:18:03 am: When you see the two styles of cabs side by side and in the flesh, they look quite different. I actually love my Galaxian. I prefer it to Galaga because the art is a lot cooler looking and the game is a blast to play in a dedicated cab. The artwork though is screen printed on a thick vinyl. I have yet to find an ink or a paint suitable for touch ups. As far as I know, no one has yet to accurately reproduce the art, because the correct vinyl has yet to be sourced. That's why more often then not people seem to restore bad off galaxians into Pac Mans... Also because well they would rather have a Pac Man...
