Hello everyone,
I am in the midst of mounting my 27" Sony CRT into my MK2 cab, and I have a question.
I know that the voltage in a CRT is held in the tube underneath the rubber anode? cap.
But what if I want to disconnect the red wire that the cap is attached to? Do I need to watch out for voltage when removing that?

That grey thing there is the flyback. You may need to do some desoldering to remove it, but you can. I would have to ask what the need is though.
Sounds like you've already read up on discharging, so you've made a connection between chassis ground and the anode on the tube using a probe or a screwdriver connected to a wire or some such right? Now just connect that probe/screwdriver to the metal connector coming out of that big red wire, the one that use to go into the anode. That will ensure that there's no charge on that end either.
Is this the KV-27FS200?

he thinks that unplugging the wire on the other end means the electricity wont be there and he doesnt need to discharge the anode cap.

Yeah something like that. Nevermind, I just need to stop being a ---smurfette--- and discharge this thing.
Yes, it is the KV-27FS200. And after dealing with this heavy thing, and trying to figure out how to mount it, and blah blah blah, LCD is looking better all the time...

So I have discharged this TV, removed the circuit board, and created a plywood bezel for it to install it in the cab.
Discharging was a non-event, and I even made a chicken stick for it. Attached the screwdriver to a pvc pipe so I could stay away from the TV while I discharged it.

That's what everyone ends up finding out.
I remember my first time discharging a monitor. I was nervous but then I did it and I was like that's it?
It really is no big deal.

I'm hardcore. I just grab it with my hand and pull it off. I discharge the tube before I put it back on.
The charge is in the tube, not the electronics...that's what most people don't get.

I think there can be a charge in certain places of some chassis's as well. The tube holds a charge because it acts like a giant capacitor. Well, there are capacitors on the chassis too. Pretty big ones sometimes.

True, there can be other charges on the board. Like on the go7 with a blown fuse, you can get bit by the filter cap.
Other than that I never really paid attention or got shocked.
I had taken a small switching psu once for a customer. I got bit by it even though it was all disconnected.
While driving home with the psu sitting on my front seat. I reached over to pick it up and it but me again.
