Title: windows 7 and a mirrored display

hi all,

i'm trying to figure out this small issue that is annoying me a bit.

my machine feeds video thru vga to my arcade monitor.  it also outputs video via hdmi to my receiver so i can play on my big screen.  if i power up with the receiver off, machine comes up fine.  turn on my receiver after machine is up and everything is still fine and the display is mirrored into my home theatre.

but if i have my receiver on (even on a different input, i.e. watching tv) and turn the machine on, windows 7 sets my receiver as the primary display and the arcade monitor is my second display.  i then have to manually tell windows 7 to mirror the displays.

i can't seem to find a way to ALWAYS have the displays be mirrored instead of a primary/secondary set up.  fwiw, i'm running an ati hd 4850 card.

any thoughts?  many thanks!

Scheduling displayswitch.exe /clone at logon should work.

That's not really the same as having it always mirrored, but it might be good enough for you.

worked great, thank you!  one small issue though.  if i boot with the pc monitor off and the receiver on, my desktop comes up at 1920x1080 resolution.  that being, i'd hate to turn my monitor on as it only goes to 1084x768.

is here a command i can push in the scheduler to force a specific resolution?

I couldn't find any Microsoft command, but 3rd party tools can do it.

The one I've used:
Nirsoft's nircmd (http://nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd2.html) (nircmd setdisplay 1024 768 32)

A couple others:
12Noon's DisplayChanger (http://12noon.com/?page_id=80)
Anders Kjersem's qres (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Other-VIDEO-Tools/QRes.shtml)

Nircmd and DisplayChanger understand multiple monitors, but that's not really applicable to this question.

Nircmd has many useful features beyond changing monitor resolution.

DisplayChanger offers more options for monitors, including rotation, enable/disable, and offset from primary.
