A 220 mile round trip was worth it to grab an all time favourite Gauntlet. Very good condition overall due to HUO for the last 9 years with the same owner.
Heavy screen burn but its bright sharp and saturated during play. Some minor cosmetics.

Bonus round: It has the full-size sideart (5 ghosts at top, barbarian's belt at the bottom) -- the versions on the usual art D/L sites are like this. (3 ghosts, no belt)

That's in shockingly great shape, awesome find. Any plans to refurb anything on it, or leaving as-is?

That is one of my favs too. Looks like it is in great shape. How are those atari joysticks holding out? I know those things had a tendency to wear thin with too much commercial abuse.
Gonna fix up the side art? To echo PL1, Mad props if you can get some sideart available of the full body art.
Oh, and I have been asking this of everyone for years whenever Gauntlet is mentioned. It is a small request, but maybe you can pull through. On the Jakobud plans for gauntlet, he doesn't have that slight angle the top of the cabinet written into the plans, he has the top as perfectly flat. Can you measure yours some time? No hurry, but next time you have a tape measure handy, I would love to know. It looks to me like it is one inch higher in the front than the back, but never was able to confirm.

That cab is in great shape. Doesn't look like anything needs to be done to it.

Vigo I can definitely do that at some point but for now the cab is over at the new house and we wont be moving in for another 6 weeks or so.
Yep the cab is in very very good shape, I haven't had time to give it a thorough testing but the front two sticks seem to work very well and they are the ones that get the most abuse.
I do plan to give it a light refurb at some point, but it's certainly good enough that it can take it's place in the arcade/sports bar/movie room thingy for a while without offending.

Sweet, no hurry about the measurement. I had plans in like 2006 to build a scratch gauntlet, but that is deep in the backest of the back burners. It is just one of those things that has been bugging me for 7 years now. :lol
As far as art goes, you got one of the nicer art cabs, IMO, in that it has the head to toe side art. The bottom of the art begins with the warriors loin cloth, and there are five ghosts going up to the top. As PL1 was saying (but nobody reads his posts), the stuff available online is pretty much only the cropped down side art. You can see that cropped art on PL1's post. I think at some point, Atari decided to cut costs, or didn't want to muck with perfectly lining up a full decals after Gauntlet hit it big, so went with a smaller decal on the sides.
Knowing the cabinet guru you are, I figured at some point you might be tackling replacing the side art since the only obvious blemish is a tear on the top of the right side. If you by chance go through the effort of vectoring up the full size Gauntlet art, you would be a hero to many Gauntlet enthusiasts. 90% of the art is already there, and the cropped away stuff can mostly be pulled from the manual cover. It is just that, AFAIK, nobody has but in the effort to tackle the full side art yet. 8)

JP1 on KLOV sells prints of the full size IIRC.

Nice grab Griff! I used to own a Gauntlet too. But I sold it a while back after I fixed it up. Looking back, I wish I hadn't. :cry:

You can probably have it printed up by the guy over at KLOV (silkscreened). See pics below of the final result.

I had that Gauntlet years ago and I dug through my posts on KLOV to find it. It was a painstaking process for the guys to re-create the sideart and I remember it well...
