Title: What game was this controller designed for ?

I just bought this thing as I'm sure I can use it for a few games but I'm wondering what game its out of. I know it says Arkanoid but I don't remember any Arkanoid machines having the need for a a spinner that also works as a 2-way joystick. Any ideas ?

Jeeze, I don't know what that's for - I hope somebody knows! If nothing else, it would make a near-perfect Discs of Tron/Zwackery spinner.  Nice catch- it looks spanking new.

I found out that this thing is for an "Arkanoid Returns" machine. (never released in the U.S.)  The thing is unbelievably well built. It doesn't spin very freely since its designed to be a paddle and not a spinner but the 2-way joystick part of it is too cool. I don't know but I may be able to utilize it for a few games. Obviously it will work for the earlier versions of the game as well so I'll have to find a spot for this unique controller on one of my cabs. At least for Arkanoid games it should feel more accurate then my spinner does because it has gears in it but they aren't reduction gears. They actually make the encoder wheel spin much faster then the speed of the knob that you're spinning with your hand. It should be plenty sensitive. I can't wait to get it wired up and play Arkanoid Returns with it so I can see just what exactly the 2-way joystick's purpose is for this game. Unless I come across somebody who actually has one of these games and needs this controller more then I do then I'd probably have to sell it out of guilt since I own the actual machine.  :-\ :)

You mean since you don't own it, right?

That's really cool.  I gotta give Arkanoid returns a try and see what's up with it.  Hey, do you mind sharing how you found out what game it's for?

Doh ! your assumption is correct J.J. I wish I could say I own one. I e-mailed the seller and asked him what version of Arkanoid uses this controller and he said its for the latest version which is in fact "Arkanoid Returns" It also states on the KLOV site that the game uses a 2-way joystick. It doesn't say anything about the paddle part though but if you look at the pic it shows the paddle knob on the cp.
