Title: How do I get the knob off of a Happ Super Joystick?
Post by: soslo on November 16, 2003, 08:52:18 pm
I am trying to use the Super Base &  Lever to mount a pair of Tron handles to...but the super knob is way too big to fit inside.

I am considering sanding the plastic off of the knob, but if anyone has a better idea, I'd love to hear it.

I have a couple of Happ's Supers...
After some inspection, I think you will need to sand/saw them off.

For my competition hack, I used some metal rods (hollow) I got from my local ace hardware.  Hollow so I could run the wires down into the CP.  Basically the same as  Oscar Controls hack (http://oscarcontrols.com/projects/triggerstick.shtml).

Yeha, you're much better off fabricating a new shaft. Much simpler. Besides, how do you think you're going to run the wires for your Tron stick through a solid shaft?  :o

Well, I sanded the knobs down...that sucked. Good thing I was wearing my respirator! Those things are resilient.

At any rate, the Tron handles base opening is larger than the joystick shaft, so the wires can run down next to the shaft.

I then drilled a hole through the base to pass the wires through. This solution works, but is not as clean as a hollow shaft...so I'll look into that route. I just need to figure out where to get hollow stock the same saize as joystick shaft. Off to OSH I go...
