Title: Help with name of an arcade first-person jet flying game from the 90s.
Post by: Dcpmark on August 16, 2013, 05:23:18 pm
I'm afraid I don't have a lot to go on. I played only once, I think in the 90s, and I remember flying through a valley blowing things up. Pretty sure it was a sit-down. Fast and cartoonish more than a realistic sim, but the graphics were great (for that time). I would probably recognize it from a screen shot.

TIA!

your description  makes me think of space harrier ... but not sure it was still alive in the 90's

Are you referring to G-LOC? (Don't know how 'cartoony' that was though.)

There was a sit down, stand-up, and a sit-down where it turned a full 360 degrees.

No, all those are earlier and much lower quality than what I'm talking about. There was depth and scaling to the scenery as you flew by. Perhaps it was even later than the 90s. And it was an aircraft so Galaxy Force is out.

I think you got it!! I think it was the 3-screen version too, a detail that I forgot until I checked the videos. But I thought I remembered that you could change the view, and I flew around without the plane right in front of me.

UPDATE: yeah, that was the game. I just saw some more video with just the HUD showing. Thanks!!

Incidentally, i just played the newest afterburner at Chuck-e-cheese this past weekend (don't know how new it is, but it was new to me).  Got about 10minutes on one token my first time up but horrible level percentages.  It was a reactive chair, great fun!  I would love to have one of those in the house.
