Funny, just looking at a build for this last night!
Looks good - release date 25th September - some time to wait yet...

Is it going to be Online always or just need Online to activate ? The system requirements do not list an internet connection as needed but being a Steam game was wondering if it will support 4 player local play without the need for each player being connected to their Steam account or will the multi player options require an active Steam connection for each player. (pretty useless for an arcade build if it requires four active connections to the Steam server in order to play a 4 player game but being Steam it wouldn't surprise me :dunno ) and kind of makes you wonder when the specs say only Single Player with no mention of Multi Player other than the Online Features - so very well could be only Single Player unless each player has their own copy of the game running on a separate system connected through Steam !

AFAIK, this game only ever was single player. You're thinking of Battle Royale.
Pac-Man Museum collection including Battle Royale coming.....

EDIT: Only release info I could find said 4th Qtr 2013, but it was from a 3rd party. Could find no release date mentioned from NamcoBandai themselves.

Yeah, hard to tell with NamcoBandai.
The deal with Capcom was that Capcom would make Street Fighter X Tekken and NamcoBandai would make Tekken X Street Fighter.
There's been no hint that the game was developed at all other than a very preliminary rendering of Ryu that utilized the clothes and body of Paul.
In some recent news, they say it is still in development, but they are considering making "platform changes" whatever that means.
Also that they want to delay release, so that it is not competing with SFxT.
I think it means that they hadn't planned on releasing it, but now see the fighting game genre making money again and changed their mind.

Really want to see a 4 player Battle Royale!

THIS GAME ROCKS!
If you have a widescreen monitor in your cab, get the game.
Using the x360kb virtual xbox controller make remapping controls easier.
I owned an original pacman machine for 8 years.
It was a 4in1 multipack for the last few.
I have never been so bored with a game in my entire life as I am with pacman.
But somehow, they've managed to make it exciting again.

It's a decent game, been playing it for a bit but have not installed on multi-cab yet.
No graphic settings available that I can see so not sure how it will run on my cab's 24" 16:10 but will likely try it out. :dunno

Looks like December 5th for Pac-Man Museum. Here's some video of the 360 version (despite the title of the video). I am hoping that the borders are optional.
