So yesterday a friend tried signing up, and during that process it said he would receive an email shortly...
however he still hasn't received it..
is sign-up's broken or something?
or does it not work with Hotmail accounts?
any ideas?

Looks life SMF hasn't fixed that bot issue. ::)

Saint might not have gotten around to authorising yet or accidentally deleted it. He is probably deleting all the bot submissions, like I have to do every month. :)

So how do we know if/when this is fixed? or is it a manual process for signup atm?
Just have to wait for someone to click a button?

Should he try again?

The process is no longer manual. If he didn't get an email that same day something ate it. Because of the sheer volume of email this server sends out due to forum notifications, there are various ISPs who ban it as spam no matter how many times I attempt to correct that. AT&T for one. Hotmail wouldn't surprise me. PM me his name and sign-up email address please.

YAY! I'm on!
Thanks Saint you're a legend!!

Hi
This might be me that your talking about, i posted a help request on the UKVAC forum about it.
I am now on after a manual insertion from one of the admin folk here (maybe you?) thank you!
I think it is Hotmail related, which is a pain for me.
I changed the email to a non-hotmail account i have, and i am receiving emails fine.
I dare not change it back in case i get the same issue, as it will deactivate the account and send an email activation link... which i probably wont be able to access if Hotmail are blocking it at the server.
Idid notice that the email in my profile had a capital first letter. Would this have stopped the email getting to me?
Cheers
JB
