Title: crt still has a faint glow when off
Post by: adidas1984x on August 06, 2013, 12:52:22 pm
Ok I dont know so i am going to ask . I recently changed the picture tube on my arcade cabinet monitor. It works perfectly the chassis is a u2000. But after I turn the cabinet off the crt has a dim and very faint glow to it on the whole screen then goes away after about 20 secs. Is something I have done wrong is this a problem? The horizontal and verticle ohms are almost identical to the original tube. I only replaced the tube because it is old and weak. (no problem with glowing from the original tube.)

I am fairly sure this will be normal. some Crt's glow for longer then others but pretty much all tubes will do it. See the following.

Should just be residual phosphor glow. I had a TV a few years ago that had a faint afterglow but you had to have the room dark to notice it.
