Title: Monitor for GroovyMAME
Post by: bulbousbeard on August 03, 2013, 11:54:22 am
I'm looking for someone to build me a cabinet, and I'm still trying to settle on the components.

I would like all new components, and one of the few new monitors that I see available is this one:

I want a 15khz capable monitor. Do you guys have any suggestions for a great 15khz monitor for GroovyMAME for 90s era arcade games that I can still buy new?

Thanks!

No reason for "new". Get a monitor in good shape. That means: No burns. That's the most important thing. Besides that, the chassis can be repaired in most cases. New crt's tend to have very bad picture quality. If it has to be new go for something NOS but that will cost you a bit. A tv screen with RGB/Scart is another option.

Or use a TV with component inputs and a VGA to component transcoder.  Just make sure it can actually display 15kHz though, meaning it should NOT be able to display 480p or higher.
