Title: NFL Sunday Ticket, whole season for $99 and no TV Contract! WHA??
Post by: Maximus on August 01, 2013, 01:42:05 pm
Not sure if this has already been posted but my boss just told me about this and it looks legit.

Amazon have a special 25 Year edition of Madden NFL for $99 which comes with a 17 Week 'trial' of NFL Sunday Ticket for Laptop, Phone and Tablet. You don't have to be a Direct TV subscriber to get the package. This is of course for computer phone and tablet, but combine this with let's say uhhhhmmmm a Chromecast... and well, who knows.

Here's the fine print and all the details...

Quote
For fans unable to receive DirecTV service, each Madden NFL 25 Anniversary Edition will include a unique code to access the 2013 regular season (17 weeks) of NFL Sunday Ticket on computers, tablets, and mobile devices- including access to the award-winning Red Zone Channel.

Unable is the key word here.  That part of the offer is only valid for people who live in places that DirecTV cannot deliver service.

"But even if you live in an area with DirecTV access, and choose not to subscribe, you may still use the code to watch Sunday Ticket games on your computer, tablet or other mobile device. You don't have to subscribe to DirectTV.""

Is that in the actual offer or someone's post discussing the offer?

This seems too good to be true.  I have Directv's service and I even worked as a tech for two years but I'm waiting for the Pitfall.  HA!  Pitfall....

Exactly.  I was a DirecTV subscriber for more than ten years and a Sunday Ticket subscriber for most of that time.  This doesn't sound like them at all.  They treat Sunday Ticket like their hot 16 year old daughter that isn't allowed to leave the house.

Yeah agreed, which is why I was a bit skeptical too, until I saw it was limited to 50k each of Xbox and PS3, which makes me think they may be using it as a market test for conversion into subscriptions or something else they have tucked up their sleeve.

I'll report back when I get mine through. Also it will be interesting to see if Chromecast will be able to pull off it's magic with this service or not, I doubt it, but hey if it doesn't work I'm not adverse to mirroring my laptop to the TV or projector via HDMI.

I just pre-ordered it and its still in stock.  Will sell the game.

I may use the chromecast or hook up a Chromebook via HDMI.

Hopefully they pull this off without any lag issues.

probably wont be able to Chromecast it as i think they use silverlight, mirrored HDMI should be fine though. I'm going to couple it with my ProXPN VPN account to exit out of both PA or CA so I don't get blacked out for local games.

Everything is looking good, my Game is on the truck for delivery along with my season ticket included. As promised, you simply get a username and password, login and go to watch online, or download the app for your phone or tablet.

Just tested this at work and it's all good, just logged in and there it all was.

but, even better..........

They are using Flash Player for the video stream, which means full-screen video supported by ChromeCast

FWIW I saw the website was having login issues when I first tried it. When I finally got in, the games were about a minute delayed off of the satellite feed via DirecTV.

I sold the game for $50 so for $49 its a great deal.

Where I'm from we don't wear bright colored tight spandex and shoulder pads to play our sports.

Directv doesnt have nearly the server capacity needed for this offer.  I can't even login, let alone try and watch a game.  This is a joke.

I wonder if this was the genesis for the DirecTV/Verizon deal that allows people to order DirecTV through Verizon in some areas.  I always did wonder what the point of that was.
