Title: Moon Cresta Cocktail
Post by: jay_red on July 29, 2013, 11:43:44 pm
Just picked up my 3rd cab which happens to be a cocktail! When I bought my first cab from a guy locally, he told me that he guaranteed that it wouldnt be my last (this was coming from a guy with a full on arcade in his garage, like 30 or so cabs, all set up in rows, playable) but I didnt believe him...

Anyway, the story with this cab is it showed up on craigslist a while ago, and I was interested and the price was nice, but the Wife did not like the look of it, so I let it go. Well here we are a couple months later and it comes back up, I email the guy to get things rolling, then wait for my Wife to get home with the intention of pitching this cab to her again. After a bit she agreed and we were off to get it! I ended up paying $180, and it is fully working, minus the coin mech, and the collection box is missing. Everything else is accounted for and functional. The monitor is bright and clear with some slight burn in, and the cab is in overall very good shape.

I was taken back by the size when we got to his place, I was not expecting it to be so small! the monitor was the most surprising at what seems to be 12 or 13 inches. This just meant that it would fit in the back of our Ford Focus with no problems! I got it home and played a few rounds of the game, and man is it hard! The joysticks need to be replaced and it just needs minor stuff here and there. I plan on modernizing it a bit, I am planning on losing the woodgrain. I also plan on one of the multi boards with all the vertical games on it. I am excited to have a cocktail, and for a good deal considering any cocktails that come up locally are crazy expensive!

Sweet artwork! I would hate to see the woodgrain or artwork touched. You can snag a look at what I did to a similar table in my sig.

good day.

I'm with chopper. The woodgrain and detail on that cab are too nice to cover up. Then again, I'm one of those weirdos that likes woodgrain.

I am keeping all of the original graphics, i just plan on changing the wood grain, I am thinking of going with a vinyl instead of painting over it. I also want to alter the control panel to stick out like on other cocktails, I am not a fan on the flat against the side style.
