I have been learning how to use sketchup over the past few days so I can design a cabinet for my build.
I am liking the design of the neo geo MVS-1-25, MVS-2-25, or MVS-4-25 (ver. 1). All of which look to have the same cabinet. The only plans I can find are for the MVS-4-25 version 3, which I do not like because of the coin door in the way of your feet.
My idea is to use the jakobud neogeo plans since it is something simple for my first ever wood working project, and modify it to meet my needs. I want to make it more of a slim design, while still having enough depth to take some gameplay abuse with no worries. I will be using a 27" lcd. Any idea of an optimal depth? I still want to retain the rear curve. Any ideas of something neat to do to make a rear door? 2 simple rear doors? Obviously the cab will not have the coin door protrusion.
Width will have to be expanded. My monitor is about 25.25 inches wide. I also want to fit a trackball in there as well. Trackball adds about 5". Control panel would then be 28.75 inches.
I'm just browsing for some ideas or suggestions. Maybe some people that have a real neogeo mvs can tell me what they like and dislike about the cab.

So the first step is replicating the MVS-4-25 version 3 cabinet in sketchup. The image posted is what I have done so far. I still have to make the control panel area. Does anyone have this cabinet and would be willing to take some pictures or measurements for me? The jakobud plans only have so much detail. I don't know the depth of the marquee panel, details about the speaker holes, the radius of the curves on the top side panels, or measurements of any inside panels/strips.

I dont know all the little difference between all the revisions, but I have a big 4 slot and 2 standard 2 slot Neo Geos and I regret ever selling them. I never had any issues with my feet hitting coin doors or anything.Im running out of room, but I'd love to have another full sized 4 slot, but I'm probably going to settle on a kit from Haruman since Im the one who convinced him to make neogeo bartop kits.
I'll be watching this thread, so pressure is on ;)

Here is what I have so far, original vs slim version. I'm nicknaming it neo•mvs. It's slightly slimmer and wider, while still retaining the same overall shape. I'm going to keep the coin door protrusion. I don't think it will be too bad, and looks much better. Thanks Malenko.
Drilling holes for the speakers will be a challenge. Maybe impossible to get perfect without a cnc router. Any ideas? I thought about perhaps routing it out like the marquee area and installing perforated metal, but I'm not sure how it would look.

Please, please ignore that nagging little voice that wants to "improve" upon the classic MVS cabinet. It is a genius piece of design that packs a well designed 25" cabinet into a footprint that is actually just a wee bit smaller than most classic 19" cabinets. I would have 10 of them lining a wall if I could. At the moment I have to settle for just one, the uber rare dedicated Samurai Shodown II 1 slot cabinet, which I run with a multicart (although the matching number original cart is still sitting in the cabinet).
If you REALLY want to do something unique neo geo then build up a one slot cabinet with custom artwork for a specific game. SNK only released 2 games that way (Samurai Shodown II and one of the metal slugs).
