Title: Analog Arcade Joystick?
Post by: michelevit on July 23, 2013, 01:12:46 pm
Does anyone know what are the current readily available analog arcade joysticks?
I'm looking to upgrade one of my 2 person cabinets with analog sticks to play Madden PC.

I've seen the Ultimarc and was wondering if there are any other options.

Thanks in advance.

Happ, but they are expensive:

Check eBay too for slightly lower prices on a very limited choice of analog joysticks.

I just spent a lot of time looking for analog arcade joysticks for an xbox360 control panel.

There pretty much isn't anything out there except the Happ ones and similarly priced industrial ones.

I'd recommend getting the 100k version if you go that route, but I have a feeling that the price of the u360 is going to be a lot more attractive to you.
Unfortunately, it wouldn't work for my purpose.

Seimitsu had a nice 10k one in their brochure once upon a time, but no one seems to have ever seen one in real life.
We had multiple people checking with distributors and repair shops in Japan and never came across a single one or part for one.

These little guys used on the Quasimoto control panels turn up occasionally.

I ended up using ALPS 2D 10k joysticks purchased from ebay and making adapters to fit them with Sanwa bat-tops.
They are pretty small and the springs in them are light.  I don't think it would hold up to arcade style use.
We ended up going with them because they were already bought and paid for.

I bought a single player quasimoto with those same analog sticks 10 years ago.  They are fragile.  I mean like can't stand any abuse fragile.  I replaced the cheap 8 way with a sanwa jlf and use it to this day as my PC mame controller.

Edit - sentence structure.

Holy Holy, those are expensive.

Am I right to assume that the Ultimarc is an analog stick?

why are the other options so much more expen$ive?

Thanks for the info. Looks like its the Ultrastik 360 for 60 bucks for me.
Time to start saving those quarters to pay for it.
