Title: One for the geometry freaks
Post by: Paradroid on July 23, 2013, 07:10:44 am
This worked extremely well for me. (http://scarthunter.blogspot.com.au/2013/07/adjusting-vertical-linearity.html) Getting the vertical linearity right improved the overall geometry. Very happy!

I'm thinking that printing onto tracing paper would make it even easier...

Anyone else have an equally anal retentive solution to this issue? :)

cool thats interesting :)

i always thought that 'stretching' effect you sometimes see on vertical scrolling games was down to the caps in the tv/monitor getting old and needing replacement, but instead then, a vertical linearity adjustment would be an easier way to get things looking right again!

It looks damn good. I believe linearity adjustments on arcade monitors is very difficult to do, I think it involves operating on coils and stuff like that.

Luckily, vertical linearity adjustment is dead easy with a TV service menu.  I had just been using a tape measure, but this looks better.  Don't forget to adjust s-correction along with vertical linearity, where available.
