Hey guys-
Here comes a stupid question (sorry) but does Groovymame actually output better graphics to an arcade monitor? Or is it more designed for people wanting to get more in depth with custom screen settings.
I have an P4 computer windows xp, arcade vga w/drivers, Wei-ya arcade monitor and I am using switch res for my resolutions. All works great with Mame (i think an older release)but wondering if Groovy helped with graphics?

hello, perhaps that is a little vague, what do you mean by 'better graphics' ?
eg. are you currently unsatisfied with how your games look on your monitor, and if so, in what way?
groovymame indeed is geared towards allowing more 'options' within the whole mame video section. as for 'better graphics' though, it depends what you mean by that

Jadder, thanks for the reply-
I am not currently unsatisfied with my setup but was wondering if GroovyMAME helped arcade monitors display games more authentic which in result would "look better"
One thing with my current setup is I would like my games to be alittle more "crisp"

Hi, groovymame helps getting exact native resolutions for any given game. If you managed to get your setup outputting natives res then GM won't get any better. However, its the better mame in terms of smooth scrolling since it also do its best to output with native vertical refresh frequency. There some other advantagesI cant describe cause im not enough into technicals..

machyavel- Thanks! That was the info I was looking for. I am running Mame 0.142. Could I just drop in GroovyMame in my setup but still use my Arcade VGA Drivers with my .ini files. That way I could use the game play benefits of GM over my "stock" Mame.
Thanks for the help!

im no groovymame expert but i dont think that would work out, so i wouldnt risk doing that.
you said you want your graphics looking more 'crisp'? do you mean at the moment they are a little too smooth/blurry looking perhaps?
feel free to post your mame.ini file here in your next post (eg. as an attachment) and i will take a look at it, to see if anything can be changed to make your image sharper looking (assuming that's what u meant by 'crisp' :lol)

yes I think you need to set up anew.

When I get a chance I will attach a .ini

Thanks for all the help! I did some research and some trial an error and have my picture looking better. I still might give GM a shot.
