Title: Speaker wiring to jack - diagram confirmation needed.

Hi All,

Can you confirm the wiring for the below diagram?

Not looking to do anything like re-invent the wheel -- I figured that stereo would not be needed for the cab, hence the mono jack.

That would be correct if you are wiring them in series -- if wanting them wired in parallel you would run one wire to both speaker grounds and the other wire to both speaker positive terminals. That is a pretty comprehensive explanation!

Both speakers I have already have the right relevant electronics attached to them, so I don't really need to worry there.

From what I read, the only difference between wiring win parallel and serial is the addition of speakers - would that be correct? I'm not planning on adding any more to the two...

Actually there is some other differences -- Here is a good video explanation ( Series and Parallel Circuits (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2EuYqj_0Uk#) )  that should clarify and suggest why for the 2 speakers you'd be better off using a parallel wiring scheme. (It's about 8 minutes long but the 2:30 mark is where the relevant info starts )

ie. if you wire in series the output of the speakers is cut in half with 2 speakers where in parallel each speaker still puts out full output but the amperage used increases -- with only 2 speakers the amperage will be fine but it is something to keep in mind if adding several speakers could exceed the amperage output the amplifier can handle in which case you'd want to wire some in series to avoid overloading the amplifier. (the video explains it better !)

OK... These are the speakers I have acquired.

Both have a couple of electronic components on them (impedance? / capacitor), and also a trailing wire from the "-".

One of the components is only attached to the "+", and I'm not sure where this attaches.

I have no idea what to do with this stuff - my thoughts are to strip them off and be left with just the terminals, and wire them that way.

They are not going to be powered through an amp, just plugged in to the PC.

What are your thoughts on this anyone!

Ok... just going to remove the components and keep my fingers crossed.

I figure that they may only be needed for some kind of powered speakers - I gues!! ???
