I have an Orion pwb 2022 that I cannot seem to find a schematic for online, but I am having trouble with the degaussing system. I do not hear it when turning on, not that you always will but, I am wondering how to test it?
At first it was good with all the colors right. Then I moved it 3 feet and that was it. I removed the coil leads and turned on the power and got 112 volts. I put the leads back on and did the same test and just get 1 or 2 volts when powering up. I understand the way the switch piece works to release after a few seconds but don't know it's name or board location to find it.
What should I do to correct this? Or should I just be looking for a hand coil and forget it? Any suggestions on what to try?

Can't speak to the coil question but if it is bad, you will want a degaussing coil. This one is relatively inexpensive and works great. You can find it cheaper at other places but this should give you all of the necessary info

if u unplug the monitor for an hour or so, so it's totally cold, then turn it on, you should hear that common boing/crunch sound you hear with tv's/monitors as the degauss circuit kicks in during cold power up.
if u cant hear that, the degauss circuit is faulty
in which case theres a good chance the degauss posistor (a.k.a positive temperature coefficient thermistor, or 'PTC') itself is faulty
often they will look like as seen in the pictures below....
u'd need to replace that part (often you will find the degauss posistor close to where the degauss coil (which surrounds your monitor tube) plugs into the main board.....), or, modify the circuit so that it bypasses the posistor altogether and allows for manual degaussing via. eg. a pushbutton (see here: http://www.ukvac.com/forum/plz-help-me-add-manual-degauss-button-to-circuit_topic328792.html (http://www.ukvac.com/forum/plz-help-me-add-manual-degauss-button-to-circuit_topic328792.html)) .. or other option, buy a manual degauss wand as mentioned in the post above. you get cheap chinese ones, or more expensive ones.. im not personally recommending the chinese cheap ones though.. just saying they are out there ... ::)
