A gentleman brought me a cabinet he picked up to turn it into a nice MAME setup for him and his family. This thing is 28 1\2" wide, and is super tall. It also use to be a dragon's lair cabinet from the CP art under the GoldenTee control panel.
Before the conversion, how I received it

Completely stripped and top trimmed - still was too tall so I cut it down some more after this (who wants a three foot marquee??)

Honest opinion? Not a fan. But it's for a client, so what can you do?

The CP art? I agree, but at least it isn't Jim Morrison there :o
Edit: I also didn't like the marquee choice, but he picked it out.
-
Naw, the whole machine itself just doesn't do it for me. It's a bit too squat and bulky for my tastes. But again, it's for someone else, right? If it's what they wanted, and you delivered it, then kudos for you.

Ah for sure. I kind of like it. Although I much more prefer the classic arcade look with the curve like the other 4-Player. He loves it so that's what matters most.

Dammit man, you were doing so good.......
Proportions CB, proportions....
You chopped the cab down and then put that huge CP on it....You made it look like a Grimmace.
You could modified like a pedestal with the extended screen similar to the newer golden tees....should of kept the CP with the constraints of the cab, like the 1st pics.....
You head to time out right now....
-
Hey man, just doing the best I can with what the fella asked of me.
- Take the golden tee cabinet
- Make it shorter
- lose the coin door
- Add 26" screen
- Make 4-Player control panel, make sure that all controls and trackball line up and players are separated when playing
- Apply art he chose
- Get $100 joysticks (360° Joysticks) (http://www.ebay.com/itm/360541273246?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649)
And all the other little things he wanted. The customer is always right and all. I warned him that the CP is way too big, so I did my due diligence.
Anyways, no harm no foul. I appreciate the input as always.

Cool. That's how I wanted it to come across. I figured you did it to his specs.

Just tell me you made a decent amount of scratch from it, bro.

LOL,
You know all my comments come with love an friendship man...
I just like giving you a hard time, as you see i look at all your builds, and enjoy the bulk of them.
Keep doing what your doing man..... :applaud: :applaud: :applaud:

I agree with rablack97 about the CP but hey, it's what they ordered so that's what matters most.
You know CoryBee, take most of the feedback as compliments, seriously.
We all love your builds and honestly we expect "Awesomeness" all the time from you now.

As opposed to some of us, of which awesomeness is expected ... any ... day ... now. (*cough cough* Ond! *cough*)
;)
Seriously though, I gotta hit you up for your 'secrets to selling' sooner or later. Think I better finish at least one build first, tho.

Speaking of which.....where are my updates on that! I love the work you have done on your build
rablack & jmike: Thanks again fellas! I think I've taken constructive criticism, and insults, pretty well over the year and a half I have been a member here....so there's that.

Getting there! I posted an update - albeit small - just today! Hopefully, there will be more by the end of the week! (HOPING!)

PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OKAY!!! (Lol.) Yeah, I hope the rain holds out. It's supposed to hit tomorrow around 11 a.m., which will be the first day in two weeks where I'll have the whole place to myself... My oldest is back with his mother, my youngest is back in daycare, and my Wife will be back at work. So, let me see what kind of trouble I can get into.

Given your starting point and the customer's demands, I think you did as good a job as anyone could. You expressed your opinions to the customer, and he did not agree.
Congrats on the gross, you earned it!
Cheers!

Thanks pharm, I try to display all of my works when possible. Even if I am not 100% happy with it, maybe somebody will enjoy scrolling through my pictures and....possibly even learn something.
Rick....scroll with me for a minute....

GET TO WORK!!!

Yeah, I get the customer asked for it but whew, that CP is gigantor. I saw the build as I was scrolling and when I got to the CP I had to do a double take. I was like "Damn" that things monstrous! I'm not a fan but if the customer is happy, then all is good.
-
The main thing that inspired the depth of the CP was golden tee, and him wanting to do his "superman" technique without hitting the screen.
(Please no talk of this technique in this thread, you know who I am talking to!)
-

You gotta admit though, that girl in the last pic is really cute!

Nothing I enjoy more than an OP hijacking his own thread to talk about mine.

Haha, mine is done.....So, I need my FIX! I like the idea of reproductions of arcades from movies\video games.

SHHHHH!!! You'll give somebody else an idea, and next thing you know, you'll see a "Fight Fighters" game from Gravity Falls. (Protip: that's a contender for my next project. That, or a Phineas and Ferb 'whack-a-mole'.)
:D
-
Fight Fighters, I saw the whole episode of whatever kids show that was on. Not a bad idea, would you create the game for it as well?

I'm no programmer, but maybe Sjaak could be convinced to build it for me... Maybe.
