 looks like Comcast is blocking emu-russia now.
It's up on the official main page: http://demul.emulation64.com/ (http://demul.emulation64.com/)
EDIT: Thanks for posting this here Nuexzz!!!

smashing drive and early Hikaru support...nice.
ima going to test if initial d plays better now
update: Initial D def seem more playable for me now. Ingame, the graphic are nice and speed is good. The downsides are some glitches in the menu screen and the sound skips but, ill still play the hell out of this. Initial D 2 played better than 1 and 3 IMO.
i picked the wrong week to redo my control panel. I can wait to get my cab up and running to play it with my steering wheel.

Cool. How do Initial D 2 and 3 run in this version? Also, is there force feedback support in this emu?

I tried Nascar, no joy >:(

I dont think any of the hikaru games play yet, i think he/they/she just added the hardware support. The furthest I could get were the service menus.
Here's some sweet action of some of the games that do play :)
Demul 0.5.8 WIP Testrun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGuAJrHW3_I#ws)

I had a few minutes to mess around with it this morning before work.
Directx9 is no longer supported, therefore neither is XP.
I tried using the Legacy plugin from the last version, but when launching a game a message pops up telling me the plugin is incompatible with this version of Demul.
I'm not sure if it will work on an XP setup that has Dx10 hacked into it.
Guess I have more motivation to try that hack now.
I can't wait to get back home and actually test the games on my Vista & Win7 machines.

Runs really bad for me now on my Windows 7 PC running a Phenom II X3 720 and Radeon HD4650 so my arcade machines are going to need seriously upgrading

My alienware laptop that can run Ridge Racer at full speed in MAME chokes on this something fierce. I have dynarec on and all the video options disabled, but Crazy Taxi is in stop-motion animation and the sound is choppy.
I have dynarec on and all video options disabled. All eight threads are 80-90%.
SegaOutrun, what CPU do you have again?
Edit: switched to the DX10 plugin and it's better, but still not as good as the old version as far as performance on my system.
-
Ok, after about 45 minutes of finding bioses, configuring the emulator, reading tutorials... basically figuring out HOW to make DEMUL work (lol), I got Crazy Taxi up and running. This was on my Core i5 3.4 ghz, 8GB RAM, Windows 8, GTX 460 GPU box.
The game constantly stutters. It'll be smooth, then "stop". Performance monitor showed it wasn't memory, cpu, or disk issues. I think its sound emulation.
I had it in DX11 mode.
Its the same problem I have with PS2 emulators - when they get "choppy" or "stutter" - its usually sound emulation related.
I only tried the Dreamcast version of Crazy Taxi. I guess I could track down the Naomi version too.
(NullDC won't even load on Windows 8... instantly crashes. so at least DEMUL is ahead in that department)

i think your issue is something else because my computer is slower than yours. im running an phenom x6 1100t and gforce 550ti card.
im playing with default setting except for the sound buffer, i set that to the max. honestly, i dont even know what that does, i just assumed bigger was better. Ill get a hiccup once in a while, but thats it. Sound is even nice, near perfect. SERIOUSLY, turns out it was my screen capture app that was making the sound choppy. I played today without the screen recorder app in full screen 720p and the audio was great.
here's a phone recording as proof. sorry i didnt have mount so i just used a cup i had on the desk. Crazy taxi is at the 2:30 mark

There almost has to be something quirky in my system throwing a wrench into the works.
Unfortunately I won't be able to tinker with it again until the weekend.
I have a feeling that it's going to run fine on my lesser powered Vista system.

I wonder if the graphics card is playing a vital role, I will try it on my sons PC, he has a way better GFX card than me but the CPU's are about on par, hopefully i will check it out later.
-
Since its using DirectX (10/11), you betcha your GPU is playing a vital role! :)

yup its def gpu based. i tried out in my cab PC and it was completely unplayable. :badmood: :badmood: :badmood:

I was thinking like Cuda or something similar, My GFX card is DX10 compatible and while its not the biggest kid on the block it should still be able to push the polygons around that Naomi2 is capable of, so in DX10/11 do they use the gpu to do some of the cpu intensive stuff?
-
That's the catch.
You're not pushing a native Naomi software experience. You're pushing an emulated Naomi software experience, which takes A LOT more power.
-
Yeah, I understand that but the emulation code is handled by the CPU, no? The cpu re-compiles or 'translates' the native naomi code and then tells the GPU where to draw and fill and apply lighting etc, thats my understanding of it anyway. I'm just wondering if any of the emulation processing has been offloaded to the GPU resulting in stuttery frame rates. If so, it seems a bit backwards that Demul 0.5.7 ran most games fine with the same hardware using dx9 plugin.
-
Not sure on that one.
I do know that almost all the "newer" emulators (PS2, Wii, etc) needa beefy GPU card. Hell, even some of the MAME games really benefit from more GPU power.
Personally, I'd rather just through more hardware at the problem vs. endlessly "tweak" the stupid thing. Hardware is cheap these days.

Problem is I have to justify to the wife  why i'm spending £400+ on new hardware for the driving cabinet in my log cabin at the end of the garden which all but gets forgotten about in the winter :dunno

You could say you lost the money at the casino. Or say it was a crazy night at the strip club... Or you picked up a drug habit and wanted to get the good stuff.
Then once she's mad about that you can say... "Just joking I spent it on my driving cabinet" . Followed by "see there are much worse (... Err Better) things I could have spent the money on"

Might have to give that a try, I'll have to say it quick though or my bags will be packed!
-
That's pretty much how my wife sees it :)
Better I spend the money on hobbies vs. bad habits

its always easier to ask for forgiveness than it is for permission.

Finally got more than 15 minutes to mess around with it and Crazy Taxi is working fine on my i7 laptop now.
The laptop must have been running something in the background when I tried it before.
I still get some slowdown and sound skips weren't there in the old versions, but they're minor.
-
One more vid ;D ;D ;D
My arcade PC isnt powerful enough for Demul but my personal PC is, so I took it outside and hooked up the cab. It was sweet to finally play some initial D with a steering wheel. Im out of money to update my arcade PC so, I think ima switch the harddrives and move personal PC outside and my arcade PC inside.

<-- Jealous.

I just got a minute free to install it this morning. I can already say it's a huge improvement for me. I only got a chance to load up metal slug 6 and street fighter but I can already tell a lot has been fixed. I was able to enter and exit full screen a lot, stop emulating / reset without crashing. Big speed improvement for metal slug 6. Was actually able to play into the second level. Now to install it on my driving cab and see what I can get. Maybe jambo safari will be playable without crashing now...

Just tried it on my driving cab but my video card isn't good enough to run anything :'(. Looks like I'll have to try and find a new one now because those new games look awesome.

I was playing jambo safari, seems to play fine. If only I could get the control right. :(

I believe the lasso is player 2 up and down

It's possible something is corrupt with mine. It loads, gets through the tutorial, gets about 20 seconds into game play and then crashes every time.

So, I am saving up my money again to make a nice Win 7, (I would have had enough, but then Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101 and Sonic Lost World happened)
I mainly want to play MvC2 and Crazy Taxi, what specs are you guys running?

your better off playing the dreamcast versions of the those games. nulldc will play them better, at a higher resolution and the emulator is more stable. crazy taxi will hiccup every once in a while in demul but, it play perfectly in 1080p with nulldc. My specs are phenom ii x4 945 and gtx 550 ti card.

I also want to play Jambo Safari, and that doesnt have a dreamcast version.
Also, I know how to setup Demul for Naomi but not for Dreamcast (I dont really plan to do dreamcast emulation)
How would this APU do?

If the GPU is too slow, could I crossfire it?
