Title: How to light up / use old coin mechanism
Post by: Smaggy on July 03, 2013, 08:33:26 pm
I have my Mame machine inside an old Lethal Guns 2 cab and it came with its original coin mechs. I'd like to at least get the bulbs to light up. Getting the coin slots to add credits aren't really necessary.

Any thoughts?
Thanks.

easy, just splice the wires from where the bulb is and plug it into a source. Find out the voltage on those bulb (5v or 12V). Use the yellow wire on your pc power supply for 12v or the red for 5v and of course the black is gnd.

Mine was an old Asteroid cabinet.  I pulled ALL of the wiring out of the door and rewired everything.  I even left and wired up the solenoids (or whatever they are called) that reject quarters if the machine is not on.

Anyway, I'm using the original bulb sockets and bulbs.  I wired up a 5v DC power supply to the bulbs and solenoids that come on when I turn on the cabinet.  I have the coin slots working and wired in parallel to a momentary on/off/momentary on toggle switch so I can either use quarters or open the coin door and hit the toggle switch.  Using the coin slots is good if you have kids over and they are only to play a few games.
