When is it coming? Anyone knows? I'd really love to switch to Win 7 for several reasons... so?
-
I have beta versions for both 32 and 64 bit Windows 7. It's only that I wanted to have a new version of VMMaker ready to release them together, updated to the new crt_range format of GroovyMAME. The problem is I'm stuck with a pile of work at the moment and I can't find time to update VMMaker as I'd like. If you guys promise not to complain about VMMaker being outdated I think I might release the beta version of CRT Emudriver for W7 as it is now, in a few days.
Besides, magic resolutions won't work on Windows 7, so please be aware of this in case you intend to run Hyperspin: it won't launch.
-
That would be TOTALY awesome!
-
So what's the story with ArcadeVGA and win7 and Groovymame?
Do we need special drivers like these?
Or do we just use the Ultimarc ones?
What do we do to get it working correctly with Win7/groovymame/hyperspin?
-
You should get into the basics. Crt emu driver is for xp only for now . There will be a win 7 driver. It has nothing to do with the ultimarc driver. To get hyperspin working with crt emu driver in win 7, magic resolutions need to be disabled and you'll have to see how many modes can be created by vmm on your system to start hyperspin (was around 95 modes for me until hyperspin won't start anymore). Magic resolutions was a work around for for hyperspin that created modes on the fly.

Err dude.. I know :)
This forum is mainly about Groovymame.. and this is a thread about the (in Progress) win 7 drivers..
Hence my questions regarding how they go with the ArcadeVGA :)
-
Hi Sledge,
CRT Emudriver for W7 will only support ATI HD 2xxx, HD 3xxx and HD 4xxx.
For the ArcadeVGA and W7 you need to use Ultimarc's drivers. You can still use GM in this situation, it will pick the available AVGA's resolution, using them as read-only. Read the main GM's thread to see the options you need to enable for AVGA.

Dear Calamity, I would kindly like to know if there is a link available to download Win 7 drivers. I have an MSI HD4350. Many thanks.
-
Looking forward to this, too! :notworthy:

Right now I suggest you to wait for 1.0. I'm testing the beta and it has a few flaws in setting it up and long booting times as the new driver needs much longer to read all resolutions. Calamity wants to implement a feature that's similar to magic resolutions but we'll have to wait for that.
-
Is there an ETA on the Win 7 release?
-Jim
-
I think this is the only thing stopping me from upgrading to win7 for my cab :)
-
Hi Sledge,
Read the main GM's thread to see the options you need to enable for AVGA.
Sorry to annoy...
I can't find these settings... which thread are you referring to as the main GM thread?
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,128879.0.html (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,128879.0.html) ??
the settings at #22 are the settings you mean?
-
Hi Sledge,
Yes I mean that thread. In my first post you have the information that you need. Anyway, for the ArcadeVGA 3000:
lock_system_modes 0
refresh_dont_care 1
I quite don't get why you are waiting for the new CRT Emudriver release in order to "upgrade" to Windows 7, if you use an AVGA 3000. As mentioned above, the AVGA won't be supported. You can "upgrade" right now and use Ultimarc's drivers.

Because i don't have an AVGA yet.. a friend does.. (don't know if i can justify the $115 for one..)
I currently have a HD4870 or there abouts..
Found another reason to upgrade to Win7 last night..
SF4 won't save data on XPx64 :(

That's a bug of that particular game I suppose.

Yes it is.. and only on XPx64 :(

in saying this, do you mean it won't work at all?
We can't just limit the modelines to 100 or so like we do now? (without using magic resolutions)
-
That should be no problem.
-
Yeah im waiting for this too because some of my gfwl games just won't work right with xp64

Calamity, any update on this?
Thanks,
Jim

Well that won't be an issue for much longer with GFWL shutting down....
nothing will work then....

any news? I'm itching to put Win7 64bit on my cab. Does anyone know if other options to ensure arcade accurate resolutions with win7 and a WG9400?

Only the ArcadeVGA unfortunately..
I prefer the CRT_Driver.. but the AVGA does work easier.. but is missing some resolutions...
-
Sorry to ask... but how far is the process with crt-emu-driver for win7?
Can I have a Beta for testing?
Try to build a HTCP for CRT-gaming on a TV and would like to use a modern OS to benefit from the hardware.
What options would I have, if i go the Hackintosh route and try a setup on a Mac OS X?
Thanks in advance... u-man :)
-
Sorry to ask again the same,
is there anythying new about the win7 emudriver?
What about the Beta?
Thanks to all of you working on this.

Dear Calamity, I was not expecting anything in particular... But I though it would be a great idea to answer this thread :laugh2:

Why?
This thread can be deleted now that it's been released for Win 7...
