Title: Maximum resolution for AimTrak???
Post by: stigzler on June 24, 2013, 04:43:41 pm
Get in! Finally got my twin aimtrak lightguns working on HOD3 - I love it when a plan comes together!!

Using HOD3 PC Version. On settings you can choose different resolutions. Can play up to 1024x768, but anything over this (1280x1024) I get "Error - Cant init hal device" (terrible missing apostrophe!)

Is this because of the AimTrak having a maximum resolution or something? Weird, because they seem to zip the pointer round a 1920x1200 screen OK! :z

Hoping someone can help.

Without knowing, just assuming - there shouldn't be any maximum resolution for the Aimtrak since it is looking for the IR LED's, no the actual monitor.

The first thing I would try in that situation is to update the gfx drivers. Yes, there are rare situations when the drivers need to be downgraded, but that is really rare.
What is the actual setup when it comes to HW and OS etc.?

There are a couple of hits on Google if you search for "hal device and house of dead", so there are others with the same problem. By just looking at it briefly, it seems to be when you run it at W7 or Vista...

Cheers mats. Drivers up to date. On XP. I'll do another google search at some point...
