Was talking to a friend that works with LCD/LED screens. Would anyone be interested in an LCD marquee? Ideally we'd have a USB connection that would send a JPG/PNG to the screen.

+1 -- If the cost could be kept low it would be nice since you could then change the Marquee to match the game you were playing, but currently the available options are ridiculously expensive since they also tend to be much higher res than what is needed for a marquee - another problem would be getting a standard size, since the marquee area tends to vary quite a bit so making something that would fit correctly in a wide variety of systems might be challenging.

If the price is right!

How low res is low res?

I've got a guy that knows a guy who works with a guy in China that makes these, but they are on holiday >:D

Send a free 24" X 7" prototype to me. kthnx.
good day.
-
23"x6" would probably be about the ideal size as you could frame that into most original cabinets. If you make it larger than what you can fit into a classic cabinet then most of your market is gone (this site makes it seem like most mame cabs are scratchbuilts, but they aren't, most are conversions of original cabinets).

Shame i dont have the time to build a cab around it yet!
Although I have to admit, even when you get one - setting the thing up to work with mame brings a whole new set of challenges...

Wow,
Is it a sign of a weak mind that I actually think this is a good idea? :applaud:
I already have a LED backlight for the Marquee and I'm searching for a 27x6 grid that will fit lite-brite pegs
-
I too would be interested. As for a price point, I woudn't expect cheap. Maybe somewhere around 2-250?
Now if there was a way to have the side art changes as well... (Maximus?)
