Hiya, it's driving me crazy, but for some reason I have to exit games twice.
The first time I press escape, I go back to mala, and then it starts the game again. Press escape again, and then it will stay in mala ready to select the next game.
Any ideas what could be causing this?
Latest version of mala, and mame 148.
Thanks in advance.

What does your MAME execution line look like?

I'm talking about this:
MAME config: http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Mala_Config#MAME_Config (http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Mala_Config#MAME_Config)
If it's launching twice, then you may have mame.exe twice somewhere.
I take it you're not pointing Mala to a batch file instead of MAME.exe or anything weird like that?

Is this what you mean?

It might be something to do with using MAMEUIFX instead of MAME.
The real MAME is available here:

Ah ok, I've tried the same file with gameex with no issues, I like the hiscore support, so will always run that over a base mame.
I don't have an Internet connection, nor the inclination to learn how to compile my own mame either, so that was the one that I found that worked.
Will continue to search then. Thanks

I hope you haven't configured the same button to exit and launch the games in mame...

Nope, otherwise it would be an endless loop. Enter to start game, escape to exit.

What would be wrong with that? Been using one button to start/exit game on my cocktail for years. @OP is you set up set to run in a window and start out maximized? If so untick both. Only thing I can think of.
good day.

Badmouth was on the button.
Couldn't find a mame that did the hiscore, so compiled mame for my first time.
Thanks everyone.
