Hello,
I have been trying to get a dreamcast emulator running on my arcade with Mala as my frontend. I am currently trying to get NullDC up and running but so far it runs really slow for most of the games I have. Power Stone 1 runs OK but Zombie Revenge and MvC2 run so very slow. I heard that maybe if I use Chanka sound plugin it would run faster but I don't know what file is the Chanka sound plugin. I did take the vmsbrowser.exe from Chanka and put it in my NullDC folder but I don't know how to enable it or if I have to do anything. I am basically lost and confused and any help or suggestions as to how I can get a Dreamcast emulator to work, NullDC or any other would be GREATLY appreciated. My PC specs are:
Intel pentium 4 CPU 3.0ghz
2GB ram
32 bit os
ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series, chip0x2A61
DirectX 11
Windows 7
If my PC just can't handle it please let me know. Thank you in advance.

When I started playing around with NullDC I had a hard time playing Powerstone and other games as well. I had a quad core setup with onboard video and 4gb ram, and Win7. I then put one of my nvidia 8800gt cards into the system and everything was just fine. No more stuttering or lag.
I am not sure how your vid card stacks up against mine but that is what fixed it for me. I wouldn't be surprised if you wouldn't see an improvement from more memory as well.
Now I am stuck on configuring the controllers to my control panel. I can config player 1 but 2,3,4 won't do anything within the settings. Also, once I close down nulldc, the settings are wiped out for player 1. It's frustrating and I will be making a thread on it for help here in the next week or two I believe. It's really one of the last things I need for my Hyperspin set up.
Hope you figure it out and don't have to dump too much money into it.

Thanks for the response. Yea I hope it's just a plugin problem because in all honesty I won't spend anymore money on the PC if it's too weak to play Dreamcast games. I am not savvy enough to replace the vid card and I don't wanna spend anymore money on it. It already has Mame, FBA, NES, SNES, Genesis, PSX and Megaman vs Street Fighter. I am gonna hope that if I use an older version of NullDC, mainly v1.0 beta1.6 that it might work. What version do you have?

I am not 100% sure but 1.6 sounds familiar to me. I will definitely be playing around with it here in the next week or two. I will know more then.
Of all the emulators, NullDC and Daphne have given me the most trouble.

Struggling with NUllDC too. Recently replace graphics card to 1GB version - consistent framerate around 60 and gfx a lot better. But still the annoying crap with stuttering sound (not AS bad, but still enough to make it annoying). No matter how ahrd I trawl - can't seem to find the answer to this- whether it's hardware, plugins, ROMs or OS's Recently thought it was XP + DX cap on Ver 9, but another fella said he had it working fine on XP! Anywhoos, to contribute to taming this emulator, my system specs:
Mainboard : ASRock 4Core1600-GLAN
Chipset : Intel G31/G33/G35
Processor : Intel Pentium XE 935 @ 3200 MHz (2 Core)
Memory : 2048 MB (2 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM )
Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT
Hard Disk : MAXTOR STM3320820A (320GB)
Hard Disk : Western Digital WD2500KS-00MJB0 (250GB)
CD-Rom Drive : DTSOFT Virtual CdRom Device
Monitor Type : BenQ BenQ 241W - 24 inches
Network Card : Realtek Semiconductor RTL8168/8111 PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
OS : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3 (32-bit)
DirectX : Version 9.0c (May 2010)
Cheers

I finally resolved my problem. I went and downloaded the NullDC v1.0.0 beta 1.6 and that allowed me to finally get my emulator up and running at a correct speed. This version has more sound plugins so I could play around to find the one that worked best.

Javy,
Do you have just one joystick/set of buttons running on it or are you going to use 2,3,4??
Also, do you have it set up so you can save?

Finally found a solution! Tried the older version - compatibility issues for some games.
Some fella's optimised the latest build. Downloaded and worked perfectly 1st time for all games :D
Guy's a magician I guess!

Save's working fine. Had no probs setting up 1 controller, but will check on two at some point and update

Eeeep. Sorry - bleary eyed and ruing having to work when posted. I was probably researching into washer types or something that night! Jees - all I wanted was a wooden box to play 1942 on. ;)
Be interested to know if this build works commonly for other people.
Good luck
