So I picked up a USA sitdown for 100$, got what I paid for, in good shape no monitor or board but rotating the steering wheel its not smooth, its like I can feel the gears "clicking" when it rotates and if my memory is right it was / should be a smooth rotation left to right and vise versa. That being said Im not sure if thats a fixable issue, I havnt taken it apart yet but there is one on ebay for sale that claims it works but I wanted some education on it before I comit to possibly bidding on it or not. thanks guys.

Everything is fixable.
First step would be to open the control panel and start testing.
There is gearing in these panels.
Pick up a manual so you have better info on what needs to be lubed and adjusted and where.
There are a lot of sources for PDF manuals.
Here's a good one:

There's a place I have gotten parts from in the past. They carry a lot of stuff like gears that may be needed for your cab.
It's something like videogameparts.com or something like that.

This is just a random guess, but if it's clicking when you move the wheel then something is probably wrong with the gears. They might just need greased.
You are going to have to take the control panel apart and identify what is making the clicking noise before we can tell you anything.

If it's a standard Happ FFB setup (which IIRC it should be if original), then there aren't any gears.
The potentiometer is attached directly to the end of the shaft. There is a timing belt style pulley that links it to the ffb motor.
The bearings are large enough I doubt they'd go bad, but I'm not an arcade tech.
More likely it is something to do with the belt or the ffb.
You'll just have to get in there and see.

Just curious if there's an update on this or not. I'm in the middle of troubleshooting a similar issue with my Cruis'n USA.
