I dont' get any responses in the Artwork forum so I thought I'd try here.
Can anyone comment on quality? Detail? How good they look compared to originals? Best place to buy them?

I ordered one from Emdkay recently (it was shipped yesterday). I'm in Australia so it will take at least a week to get here. I'll let you know the quality when it arrives. It is a 'vs. the goonies' marquee.

i used www.mamemarguees.com and i was happy with their work.

Did you mean www.mamemarquees.com (http://www.mamemarquees.com/)?

I'm talking about repoductions of original game marquees.... not homemade mame marquees. I want to know the quality and detail comparissons with the original.

I don't know if mine (vs. the goonies) is vinyl (I'm pretty sure it may just be glossy photo paper from emdkay) and I have no original to compare it against. But I'm a stickler for quality and if it's anything less than perfect I'll definitely let you know.

Cool thank you

emdkay's are printed on glossy photo paper. I was pleased with the quality.

Any reproduction will only be as good as the image that they get it from. In some cases you won't be able to tell its a repro in others you'll see flaws 50ft away.

My 'vs the goonies' reproduction marquee finally arrived. It is printed on glossy photo paper and is of a high quality. The cut is flawless (perfect corners at right angles). The quality is as good as I would have hoped for. It has a Nintendo logo on it which is slightly imperfect (eg. the rounded border is not perfectly consistent in its roundness and thickness) but that's being very picky indeed, and is probably a result of the original artwork anyway (from mid-1980s). Once up and behind plexi-glass and backlit, it will look perfect. I'm very happy. The price is reasonable if you're prepared to pay that much (US$19.95). That's about $27 in $AUD (plus shiping). If I had have taken the high-res image (which someone did find for me on the net) to a printer place, the cost of using the file (download fee) plus the quality of paper I would have liked to have used would probably equate closely to what emdkay charge - plus the added time of actually going to the trouble of asking for the right size, worrying about the cut, etc.

The vinyl repros they sell on ebay seem to be a bit lacking. I saw one up close and personal at the auction saturday (Defender with all new vinyl repro art in a Stargate cabinet), it didn't look BAD, but it wasn't nearly as good as the original stuff.
Although it still looked better than the paper inkjet crud marquees that Namco puts on the reunion machines.
