Title: Trackball mount at an angle?
Post by: GeoMan on June 02, 2013, 07:07:31 am
I am planning to make a second control panel with a 2 1/4 Trackball. I use TEKO PULT 364.8 boxes as pictured below:

My question is:

Will there be any problems mounting the trackball on one of these boxes, because the top of these - as you can see -  is inclined and the trackball will not mount completely horizontally, but at an angle? Will this affect the response of the trackball in different directions?

The angle is 13o

I doubt you'll notice any issues, as long as you mount the trackball with it's "top" facing the backside of the box.

You might have to get used to the angle, but that shouldn't be a big deal.

The thing to watch for is mounting the trackball such that the monitor is very close behind it. Given many trackball games require you to really smack the ball, you could end up smacking the backglass and monitor. But that won't have any effect on the way the trackball works, just your hand  ;)

Shouldn't affect performance of the trackball... Most arcade cabinet control panels have a slight angle around 6-8 degrees.  Just make sure whatever box you use has enough depth to mount the trackball.
