Title: Roms audited but some are not loading :O
Post by: Stormrider on June 02, 2013, 06:36:37 am
I have audited my romsets with Clrmame Pro and the 148 dat and now they are all right. However, using Emuloader I've noticed some are red, which means that they will not load. Actually, when loading them, I get the error of missing roms. I've tried redownloading them, but it's the same. Actually, I've tried some of these games with MAME 146 and the problem is there too.

Can they be broken games in 148?

In that case, why the missing rom message, instead or any other message?

How can I know in what recent version these games still work?

The worst thing is that some games are not marked red in Emuloader either, but they have the same problem, for instance, the Street Fighter Alpha games. How can I find out what games wont load without having to try them all one by one?

This is the list of problematic roms reported by Emuloader:

bosco
btoads
crusnusa
crusnwld
csmash
demoderb
digdug
dotron
gokuparo
galaga
gaplus
mk4
mk4a

primrage
radikalb

slikshot16
solarfox

Some of these need CHDs. Others are really old. So I am not sure what the issue is. Sorry.

Some games don't work on different versions of mame for some reason. Had that with Joust

First thing you should do is get rid of any external variables - try running mame's verifyroms command on one of the roms in question and see if it verifies as good. If so, try running the game. If it runs, then there's an issue with emuloader.

If it verifies ok, but still says roms are missing when you try to run it, you'll have to try getting those roms from a different source. I ran into a very similar issue once - mame says the roms are fine when I run the verifyroms command, yet if I try to actually load a game, it says roms are missing.

It turned out the zip files were corrupt. Running 7-zip's test command on them said so, and also, they could not be unzipped IIRC, I'd just get an error when I tried to do so. So just auditing the roms is not enough on its own. You've got to test that the zip files are not corrupt also.
